  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread with butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  7. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into slices.
  8. Place the slices in a baking pan and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Mix powdered sugar with a little milk to make icing and drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chopped nuts or raisins to the filling.
  • These rolls can be made the night before and baked in the morning!
