Ingredients

  • 2 green tomatoes
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices turkey bacon
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 cup lettuce
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Slice the green tomatoes and soak them in buttermilk for 30 minutes.
  2. Dredge the soaked tomatoes in a mixture of cornmeal, salt, and pepper.
  3. Fry the tomatoes until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Cook the turkey bacon until crispy.
  5. Toast the bread and spread mayonnaise on one side.
  6. Assemble the sandwich with lettuce, fried tomatoes, turkey bacon, and avocado slices.
  7. Top with the other slice of bread, cut in half, and serve immediately.

Notes
