A creamy and delicious Southern baked mac and cheese recipe featuring turkey bacon.

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.
  3. In a skillet, cook turkey bacon until crispy; crumble and set aside.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Slowly whisk in milk; cook until thickened.
  6. Stir in cheeses until melted; mix in cooked macaroni and bacon.
  7. Transfer to a greased baking dish; bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly.
