A rich and creamy Southern baked mac and cheese with the smoky flavor of turkey bacon and the savory taste of chicken ham.

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup cooked turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup cooked chicken ham, diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and stir in flour to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk and cook until the mixture thickens.
  5. Stir in the cheeses until melted and smooth.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni, turkey bacon, chicken ham, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to the cheese sauce, mixing well.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and top with breadcrumbs.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce to the cheese sauce.
  • Let the dish sit for a few minutes before serving for easier slicing.
