A creamy and indulgent Southern baked mac and cheese with turkey bacon that brings comfort to every bite.

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup cooked turkey bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions and drain.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  5. Add in the cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and combined.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  7. Fold in the cooked macaroni and turkey bacon.
  8. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and sprinkle paprika on top.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider mixing in some crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Feel free to use different types of cheese based on your preference.
